AI does not invent fraud, but it can make old scams faster, cheaper, more convincing, and harder to detect. This paper examines how generative AI can upgrade tech support scams and romance scams through stronger scripts, synthetic media, personalization, and scalable manipulation.

The paper argues that older adults need more than awareness messages. They need reliable support networks, practical defensive guidance, and systems designed for confidence, escalation, and rapid harm reduction.
